Washington Harbour is a Class-A mixed-use development that borders the Potomac River on the Georgetown waterfront. Local DC lighting design firm, SShape was hired to transform the 40,000sq/ft space as part of the area’s capital improvement project.
The SShape DC design team transformed Washington Harbour’s 3000 K Street NW, leveraging its waterfront location to create an elevated and inclusive workplace experience. Inspired by the Potomac River’s colors, serenity, and natural elements, the design incorporates these themes into a variety of spaces, including a new amenity lounge and conference center.
The conference center is surrounded by huddle spaces and phone booths, offering tenants and guests flexible work options. To foster a sense of community, the design also includes a town hall, with corridor and restroom upgrades throughout.

The design team at SShape DC wanted to create a grid pattern that could be modified to easily move lighting where it was needed based on the room configuration. As guests enter the open lounge space within TI, a unique powder coated black illuminated grid hangs suspended from the unfinished ceiling. This illuminated grid is comprised of multiple OZ 48V SMALL LINEAR 34″ modules in 3500K recessed in the OZ 48V Power Rail (2.4”W x 2.6”H) profile.
The OZ range provided the exact flexibility that the design team required as the different mounting configurations of OZ are achieved using joint connectors that make it possible to build a simple or complex system grid pattern. The light units have a magnetic fixing system that make it possible to attach the luminaire module at any point along the power rail with extreme simplicity. The single and multiple light units are equipped with Ra90 LEDs and different optical systems for precise and defined lighting effects. SP, FL and MWFL optics are suitable for installation in work environments – UGR<13 for the Small versions and UGR<17 for the Large versions.
In this particular project, the team opted to use only one type of linear fixture to create their grid pattern. The OZ 48V SMALL LINEAR modules are 1” in width and available two lengths in 22″ and 34″, four color temperatures, and wireless bluetooth Casambi interface for individual fixture control or 0-10V Digital Dimming for group control.
