Bell Tower Green is a beautiful 3-acre public park in Salisbury, North Carolina that surrounds a historic bell tower. As Salisbury’s most significant downtown green space, Bell Tower Green is a place where the community gathers to celebrate, connect, and engage. This 3-acre park hosts multiple leisure and entertaining areas to accommodate virtually any type of activity or event. From play spaces to entertainment sections to lush green expanses. The project took more than two years to construct and over four years of planning and private fundraising to amass more than $13 million.

The unique Garden Trellis area features multiple half circles that provide a visual wayfinding pathway to the interactive water feature along the path to the bell tower. At the base of each half circle Targetti’s JUPITER inground luminaire in 3000K in a Wide Flood distribution.
Lead designer, Paula Ziegenbein noted that after AGI modeling and renderings were completed, the wide flood distribution of the JUPITER fixture provided the even distribution that they desired for the project. The specific distribution in this application needed to overlap coverage at the top of the arch that will eventually be filled with plant growth.
With over 40,000 square feet of space, the Bell Green Tower community park has transformed from what was once a parking lot and a few buildings to an expansive park that has become the fabric of the community. Hartranft Lighting Design and their Charlotte, NC team members lead the lighting design of the entire project with landscape design directed by LandDesign. The lighting design team noted that the landscape designers from LandDesign were very mindful of creating rooms within the space. “Its a big space but they grouped “like” areas to create different experiences in each area,” commented Paula.
