VEA Marriott Resort & Spa Newport Beach, CA

VEA Newport Beach, a Marriott Resort & Spa is one of California’s latest ocean side luxury destinations.  The recent renovated property, formerly the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa, underwent a complete top-to-bottom refresh under the guidance of esteemed architecture and design firms HBA, Gensler, Burton Studio, and Houston Tyner Architects. 

The vision for the redesigned VEA focused on the most important aspect of the hotel: the ocean view. Design teams brought this ocean view feel to life with the new coastal-inspired luxury guest rooms, the introduction of two new suite categories, three newly imagined restaurant and bar concepts, a wellness focused spa and high-performance fitness center, expansive new indoor and outdoor event spaces, and a luxury destination pool experience.

VEA’s lobby brings the outside in, with folding glass NanaWalls on both the front and backside of the lobby, opening an entire wall of the space to create a truly indoor-outdoor experience. Upon arrival within the entrance oculus, guests are welcomed by an impressive pier-inspired entrance with a massive circular waterfall that leads into the luxury lobby enveloped by stunning wave-inspired millwork with a view to the ocean beyond.

The Exterior Porte Cochere wave inspired millwork draws your eyes from the circular waterfall to the lobby entrance with long ribbons of light provided by our flexible DURATAPE HIVOLT Architectural Light Strip in 2700K.

DURATAPE HIVOLT is a direct line voltage strip with opaque side walls for clean illumination cutoff and the advantage of being able to reach a long distance continuous lengths without the inconvenience of a remote LED driver. Suitable for both indoor or outdoor applications, this versatile LED strip allows you to simply, plug and go, no power supply is required! This product is ideal for long run lengths, with uninterrupted high illumination.

TITANO, a professional inground LED grazer, illuminates the driveway path with a touch of light. The grazing light effect produced by TITANO can be projected in a number of different ways. A 106° horizontal aperture allows the light to be projected in one or two directions and a 62° horizontal aperture allows the light to be projected in several directions to produce a ground grazing effect.

In this particular application TITANO mono-emission was specified in 3000K. The IP67 marine grade fixture is designed to withstand the exterior elements and delivers a drive over rated semi-recessed solution that is resistant to static loads up to 4,496lbs in flush mounted cement and pavement installations.

Situated above Newport Beach’s panoramic tapestry, the property has been curated into a social sanctuary – a place to get away in the center of everything; a destination that while not far from main metro hubs in Southern California, still feels miles away from the busy city buzz. It serves as a destination for socializing with live music regularly, a vibrant pool scene, designer fashion experiences at nearby luxury shopping destination of another Targetti installation - Fashion Island.The property features a stunning 85-foot long pool surrounded by lounge seating and cabanas, LED screens for swim up movies, and iconic views of Orange County. All designed to see and be seen while sipping on a signature cocktail and listening to live music.

According to Frank Suryan of Lyon Living, some parts of the hotel are being repurposed, from an architectural standpoint, while others are completely reimagined and transformed. An existing tower is being recreated from standard guestrooms to be made up entirely of premium rooms all with ocean views.
A European-inspired coffee bar and patisserie in the lobby lounge featuring artisanal coffee with pastries and espresso drinks, which transitions into a wine bar in the evening with charcuterie and other shareable small plates. The Interior Coffee Bar lighting features a number of versatile DURATAPE products that enable the staff to easily decrease the light intensity and vary color temperature based on the room set up requirements from coffee bar to wine bar.

DURATAPE HIVOLT DIM–TO–WARM is a versatile LED strip that can be simply plugged in, requiring no transformer or driver and is featured on the bar facia. The direct line voltage dim–to–warm strip is constructed with opaque side walls for clean illumination cutoff and delivers the additional advantage of being able to reach a long-distance continuous length without the inconvenience of a remote LED driver. This innovative product maintains light and color uniformity along the entire strip with runs up to 164 feet on a single feed. This strip light provides the ability to attain all white shades possible to vary the atmosphere and environment with a single line voltage solution.

SPA VEA's entrance features a retail setting with shelves that highlight the variety of beauty products available at the spa. The placement of the smooth dimmable DURATAPE DIM-TO-WARM allows the light intensity to be decreased and the color temperature of the light to be varied at the same time, simulating the dimming curve of an incandescent lamp. The strip follows a preset dimming curve with the coolest kelvin temperature LED at highest intensity to the warmest kelvin temperature LED at lowest intensity.
